Our mission is to mobilize community resources to address social challenges and create a Bellevue where everyone can thrive.
And our long-term vision is to sustain a community that proactively engages in meeting civic challenges and opportunities, ensuring that Bellevue is the number one city to live, work, and visit in the Northwest.
We bring together businesses, governments, nonprofit organizations, and philanthropy to foster development of innovative programs to address challenges and opportunities in Bellevue.
The Bellevue Foundation receives funding from generous benefactors, and our goal is to distribute grants to social service nonprofits and other organizations to more effectively and efficiently deliver high-impact programs that strengthen our community.
Legacy and Future.
Our current concentration on serving the people of Bellevue is built on a legacy of working to address social challenges that face East King County in Washington State. Previously, under the name Eastside Foundation, we led impactful initiatives addressing homelessness, affordable housing, and strengthening supportive services.
Our foundation has been involved in many initiatives including developing homelessness plans for the Eastside, increasing and improving resources for behavioral health and substance use disorders, organizing emergency shelter availability, and promoting best practices for permanent supportive housing.
Based on feedback from supporters, donors, community partners, and civic leaders, we made the transition to a Bellevue-focused organization. Bellevue is the largest city in East King County and is the economic and cultural heart of a dynamic Eastside. The center of gravity. We believe civic engagement with Bellevue residents and organizations strengthens the City of Bellevue and all of the Eastside.
For many years, Bellevue had been a major city without a prominent community foundation. The Bellevue Foundation fills that role, and by raising funds and bringing people together to address social issues and untapped opportunities, we’re building a brighter future for everyone.
